After studying philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris, Mathieu Orcel decided to dedicate himself to filmmaking, beginning his career as a documentary filmmaker in Argentina in 2001. Since 2009, he has been managing a Franco-Argentine production company, through which he directs or produces documentaries—some of which have won awards, notably the series Salida de Emergencia.
This documentary, which explores diversity and sexual identity across Argentina, was broadcast on two major channels (Televisión Nacional and Canal Encuentro), and received awards from TV Pública-AFSCA and the “Best Director” prize at the 2013 Libercine Festival in Buenos Aires.
His unique position between Europe and the Americas allows him to develop creative documentary projects with the I.N.C.A.A as well as major reports across several South American countries for both French and Argentine channels (France2,, ARTE, CANAL+, CAPA,, AJ+, BBC, etc.).
