Passionate about images and conveying reality, Raphael began producing his first reports at the age of 17, in 1991. His first professional project, co-produced in 1994, was about the Kazantip festival in Ukraine for TRAX magazine (Arte TV). Introduced to images and reporting by Noël Quidu, a renowned reporter, he trained as a photojournalist at the 3IS film and audiovisual school in Paris. After moving to the United States, his adopted country, he became an assistant, then a cameraman (OPV), and finally a director of photography on productions for major European (France Télévision, Arte, BBC) and North American (Quebec-based Infocom productions) television channels. Specialising in lighting at the Institut National de l'Audiovisuel (INA), he then worked on fiction films and numerous institutional films in France and internationally as director of photography. He ran the CIMAX press studio as a JRI responsible for audiovisual productions for nine years and also participated in the creation of a collective for cinema equipment. For Brama Production, Raphaël draws on his experience and expertise, his knowledge of the field and his passion for the profession to co-produce or assist in the filming of non-European productions in France and Europe.
